Zero: ? - 21 Oct 06
For those of you that know me personally, you know that I love my two dogs, Abby & Zero. Well, today Zero died of apparent natural causes at 1420. I was fortunate enough to be home with the family as he passed. He was a wonderful loving dog and will be deeply missed.
He was named "Zero" because I rescued him from being put down back in 1998. He had zero time left to live. I was contacted by a Pointer rescue program near Athens, GA, that told me they had a young dog that was 2 weeks overdue to be terminated. They had been forestalling the termination by promising the SPCA that they would find a home. They were desperate until they found me. With the help of my oldest friend, Bob, I drove from Central PA to Washington DC then we both drove to GA to get Zero. It was a heck of a weekend driving back and forth to GA like that but Zero was well worth it.
Abby now is confused and looking for him.....

I am sorry for your loss.
I can't believe he is gone. :(
Zero was an awesome dog! I talk fondly of that day we went and picked him up. The way he was sleeping in the back seat on the way back from GA.
How he put his head on my shoulder as I was driving. Almost like he was saying thanks for coming to get him. The way he'd put his paw on your head if you bent down in front of him. The time he was smelling my dog Gidget's butt as she was squatting to go pee and Gidget then chasing him around the grass in front of my apt. lol I always loved Zero, even though he wasn't my dog.
I lost Gidget about 2 1/2 years after we picked up Z and ever since then when I visit I would make sure I gave him a hug and a kiss on the head.
This may sound stupid or gay, but I believe dogs go to heaven :) They are too good not to. Right now Zero is in heaven being chased by Gidget.
RIP Z
ps: how are you doing? How are the kids handling it?
I'm gonna call later tonight.
Hang in there.
B
He’s sleeping well. Zero went through many extreme changes in his last few years. He is now forever at his home and at peace.
Chuck and I should be shooting tomorrow around 2. You should come out if you want to talk. I’ll bring the .22 for Zak.
I’ll call.
it may be hard but remember as much as you can of the time you had with zero.this is the same advice i give to those who have lost a human that was close to them. (maybe i am wrong but i do not consider animals any less significant than humans.)
whenever i have experienced loss, i try to move as fast as possible to remembering the good moments, because that was the gift you can keep.
if indeed there is a heaven, right now a cat named leo and a dog named blue are hazing the newcomer named zero. just like their keepers aren't they?
I'm really going to miss Zero, that was the best dog.
B, told me the news yesterday, and I wanted to extend my condolences and hope your memories with Zero comfort you in this time of sorrow.

I'm so sorry I never got to meet him. I'm sure he was a great dog and I'm thankful you were home with him to say goodbye.
sorry man.I will miss petting his head over the fence when I get home from work. he was always there to greet me. RIP ZERO
What a beautiful animal. I'm sorry you've lost your friend.
We are so sorry to hear that. Zero was a great dog. Angel liked playing with him, and we had fun walking the dogs together.
Hugs for you and your family.
